match for the opportunistic Charlotte Bobcats Antworten

LOS ANGELES -- Make no bones about it. Coach Mike DAntonis skeleton roster was no match for the opportunistic Charlotte Bobcats and Al Jeffersons dominating presence in the paint. Jefferson tied a career high with 40 points, 16 of them in the fourth quarter, and grabbed 18 rebounds to help the Bobcats send the floundering Los Angeles Lakers to their sixth straight defeat with a 110-100 victory Friday night. "I have those moments," Jefferson said. "They kept running plays for me and I kept scoring. In the first quarter, they werent going down for me, but I just kept staying with it because I knew sooner or later it would start going down for me. " Jefferson set a franchise record with his 11th straight game of 20 or more points, eclipsing the mark set by Jason Richardson in 2007-08. It was the 13th game this season in which an opposing player scored at least 30 against the Lakers, something that happened in 18 games last season -- and there are still 35 games remaining. Jefferson is averaging 19.9 points and 10.7 boards, but wasnt selected for the All-Star game and has yet to play in one in his 10 years in the league. "Ive been disappointed with the All-Star games, man, for many years. So I dont listen to the hype," Jefferson said. Gerald Henderson added 20 points for the Bobcats. Starting point guard Kemba Walker missed his sixth straight game since a sprained left ankle ended his career-opening consecutive game streak of 190. Ramon Sessions, who has started every game at the point during Walkers absence, had 13 assists and nine points. Sessions, along with starting power forward Josh McRoberts and reserve guard Jannero Pargo -- all former Lakers -- combined for 26 points and the Bobcats snapped a string of five straight defeats against Los Angeles. Charlotte shot 52.3 per cent from the field, improving to 5-0 when shooting at least 50 per cent. The victory was the Bobcats ninth on the road, four more than all of last season. Still missing Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, Steve Blake, Jordan Farmar and Xavier Henry because of injuries, the Lakers lost for the 18th time in 21 games and are only a half-game ahead of last-place Sacramento in the Western Conference standings just four seasons after winning their 16th NBA title. Pau Gasol had 24 points for Los Angeles and Nick Young added 21 off the bench. The Lakers have given up 100 or more points in 14 consecutive games, matching the clubs longest such streak since a 17-game stretch in 1986-87. Trailing by as many as 20 points after a pair of free throws by Jefferson with 4:21 left in the third quarter, the Lakers sliced the margin to 86-73 on a four-point play by Ryan Kelly. Los Angeles got it down to 86-78 on a layup by Robert Sacre with 11:01 to play, but that was as close as the Lakers got. Jefferson scored the Bobcats first eight points of the final quarter to help keep the Lakers at bay. "Hes been doing this to a lot of people," DAntoni said. "We tried a little bit of everything. We dug. We tried to play him a little bit straight up, at first. We tried to double-team him." Jefferson, who signed a three-year, $41 million contract with the Bobcats in July, powered them to a 62-49 halftime lead with 18 points and eight rebounds. Charlotte shot 58 per cent in the half, and never trailed after Jeffersons finger roll gave the Bobcats a 26-25 lead with 1:37 left in the first quarter. In the other meeting this season, the Lakers beat the Bobcats 88-85 at Charlotte with a game-ending 13-4 run and 21 points by Kobe Bryant -- one of only six games the NBAs fourth leading scorer has played in this season because of a torn Achilles tendon and a fracture in his left knee. Jefferson was held to 14 points that night. NOTES: The game ball was being sent to New York to mark the final day of NBA Commissioner David Sterns tenure. And what will he bring to the Emirates? Nick Wright profiles the 20-year-old with the help of one of his former Bolton team-mates. There was not much to cheer at the Macron Stadium last season. Bolton Wanderers were crippled by spiralling debts, transfer embargoes and disarray behind the scenes, and supporters watched in dismay as a chaotic campaign ended with relegation from the Championship to League One.While Bolton lurched from one setback to the next, however, the emergence of a young defender from their academy provided a glimmer of light. Little was expected of the local lad in the number 45 shirt at the start of the campaign, but a year on from making his debut in a Capital One Cup tie against Burton Albion, Rob Holding heads to Arsenal as a rising star. The speed of Holdings ascent has taken everyone at Bolton by surprise - including himself. At the start of the season, I was dreaming of playing a couple of senior games, he said after collecting their Player of the Year award in April. For it to have panned out like it has is just a dream come true. There is something typically Arsene Wenger about signing a £2m defender from Bolton while Arsenal fans anxiously await a superstar striker, but he is not the only one to have spotted something special in Holding, who made 30 appearances over the course of his breakthrough campaign. Holding challenges Charlton striker Igor Vetokele Scouts from up and down the Premier League were drawn to the Macron Stadium to watch him, and at the end of the campaign his impressive form was recognised with a call-up to the England U21 squad for the Toulon Tournament, where he played twice as Gareth Southgates side lifted the trophy. His Bolton team-mate Derik Osede understands the fuss. Osede was another of Boltons better performers last season having arrived from Real Madrid Castilla in the summer, and the Spaniard partnered Holding in the centre of their defence in the second half of the campaign. Arsenal squad is good enough Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis says Arsenal are good enough to win the league. I heard the rumours when they started last season, Osede tells Sky Sports. I think its a great step for him. He needs to be at a team who will help him grow as a player, and Arsenal are a team who give young players a lot of opportunities. Im sure he will take his chance and it will go very well because hes an excellent player and he has a great future. Its high praise from Osede, but Holdings future didnt look so bright when he was hauled off in a galling Championship debut against Middlesbrough back in August. The inexperienced youngster struggled as part of a back three as Bolton fell to a 3-0 defeat at the Riverside Stadium, with manager Neil Lennon conceding he quite clearly got it wrong after the game. Watch Rob Holding make a well executed slide tackle with one boot on and the other in his hand! It felt like too much, too soon for Holding.dddddddddddd. The academy graduate dropped out of the team for the next four months, but when he returned to their starting line-up for a trip to Hull in December, he stayed there. Boltons chances of survival were looking bleaker by the week, but Holding shone at right-back and centre-back despite the challenging circumstances. The inexperienced youngster stood up to the physical challenges of Championship football, and he demonstrated impressive technical ability, too.Holding plays out from the back with coolness and composure, and he is similarly adept at carrying the ball forward himself, muscling past opponents and driving into space in midfield. He reads the game intelligently, with an average of 3.3 interceptions per game only bettered by three players to have made at least 20 Championship appearances last season. Holding was part of Englands U21 squad for the Toulon Tournament Hes a good team-mate, says Osede. Hes quite tall, hes strong and he has a lot of quality. Its not easy to show that in the centre of defence. Coaches in England like tall, physical players at the back, and tall players dont usually have as much technical quality as shorter ones, but Rob is a complete defender. He can play in any position in defence.Lennon eventually left Bolton by mutual consent as they slid towards relegation, but before his departure he talked up Holdings growing influence on the side. Rob Holding has been a superstar for me, he said in February. Every game he seems to be growing in maturity and improving in performance.Holding showed consistency and leadership despite his tender age, and while he is a long way from being the finished article, Osede feels his maturity sets him apart. He sees things clearly and he is very mature for his age, which is really what you want, he says. It didnt help that everything went badly for the team last season, but Rob has a lot of personality for a young player. I think teams like that. Five breakthrough stars Which Premier League youngsters could make the big breakthrough in 2016/17? Arsenal have certainly taken note. The Gunners are light on cover at centre-back and right-back, and Holding already looks well-placed to jump above Calum Chambers, who has been linked with a loan move away from the Emirates after his development stalled last season. The Gunners have plenty left to do in the transfer market, but for Holding, the move caps a fast-tracked rise to the top. This time last year his only first-team experience was a solitary substitute appearance on loan at Bury. Now, he is brushing shoulders with the elite. For those who witnessed his progress at Bolton last season, it wont have come as much of a surprise.
